Speech and Debate Team Competed in First Tournament of the Year.
This weekend our all new Speech and Debate team competed in our first tournament of the year. It's customary for us to observe the first tournament but three brave students proved to be ready for the challenge of competing in the Woodlands High School tournament.
Justin Chavez, Jaida Walker and Narius Nedd competed in Impromptu Speech. Justin gave a valiant effort, learned a lot and is ready for the next competition. Jaida won second place and advanced to semi finals where she placed fourth. Narius placed first and advanced to semis where he placed second. He advanced to the final round, taking third place.
Needless to say, I'm extremely proud of each of our contestants and their peers who showed up to support and learn. It was my first tournament and the students'. We have to thank our Carver family for helping us make it happen.
