Sixteen seniors from Carver High School in Aldine ISD graduated this month with more than just a high school diploma — they also earned a Level 1 Workforce Certificate in Interior Decorating from Houston Community College.
The students are part of the first interior design P-TECH cohort, a four-year partnership between Carver High School and HCC that began when the students were freshmen. The program provides students with the opportunity to earn college credits and gain career-ready credentials while still in high school.
The certificate program is designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs in the interior design industry. It can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Interior Design at HCC.
