Carver Student earns second place in Aldine Film Festival

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our first Aldine Film Festival second-place winner, Alton Robinson. Alton, a senior theatre student, wrote, produced, and filmed his project independently. He initially submitted the film as an individual entry for Texas Thespians, and it has since earned well-deserved recognition.

Below is Alton’s synopsis, along with his vision and inspiration for the film, in his own words:

“Whispers of Betrayal isn’t just a film to me—it’s a story about trust, loyalty, and the moments that test both. But beyond the story on screen, what this project really represents is something deeper: family.

This was my first film, and I didn’t do it alone. I created it with my friends, my cast, and my team—and somewhere along the way, we became more than that. We became a family. We spent countless days after school reshooting scenes, rewriting the script, and pushing each other to create something we could truly be proud of.

Winning this award at the film festival is something I will always carry with me. It means a great deal personally, but even more because it represents all of us—every long day, every idea, and every moment we refused to give up.

I am grateful for this opportunity, for the people who believed in me, and for the team that stood beside me throughout this journey. And this is just the beginning. I look forward to seeing where this path in film will take me next.*”
